CARTER CAVES STATE RESORT PARK — Kentucky Career Center – TENCO held an area-wide partner training at Carter Caves State Resort Park on Sept. 25. This annual event provides partner agencies the opportunity to receive up-to-date training in order to serve customers in the best way possible.

Singer Buchanan, State EEO Coordinator with the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet Office of Diversity, Equality, and Training provided Equal Opportunity training. Mr. Buchanan’s presentation was a important reminder for staff to be sensitive to diverse customers while providing them with gold standard services expected at each career center.

In the afternoon, the Kentucky Department of Corrections, Reentry Division, facilitated a Reentry Simulation. During simulation, staff members experienced a day in the life of an individual who was recently released from prison, jail, or supervision. They faced the same barriers and frustrations justice-involved individuals face. The program was to give staff an appreciation of what some customers go through and the barriers they face when they re-enter society.

Agencies participating in the training included the Career Development Office, FIVCO ADD, Buffalo Trace ADD, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, SkillsU, Department of Corrections, Senior Employment Program (Big Sandy CAP, Northern KY CAP, Southwest CAP), Ashland Community and Technical College, and Maysville Community and Technical College.
