What inspired you to choose your career path?

I watched how compassionate and caring the nurses were while taking care of my dad in his last few days fighting cancer. I automatically knew that’s what I wanted to do and that I had what it took to get there.

What is one or two things that has impacted your career to make you better at what you do?

My professors, those that helped me financially and leaders at my college were amazing, so amazing that I’m now going back to school to get my RN. The nursing staff that I’m blessed to work with make you want to be and do better, but the days of the LPN program laid the foundation for that too.

What are you most proud of in your career journey?

You will hear time and time again “you will do great”, “you can”, but also “ if it will happen it’s going to happen while you’re in the program”. Well, that’s exactly the truth! My last semester I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was diagnosed, I fought it, and I beat it all while in nursing school. I was determined cancer wasn’t going to take my dream from me! I passed the program and the NCLEX. So being strong and being able to connect with my patients on that level helps in ways that those never experiencing it will never understand. I’m able to provide that.
