The Kentucky Workforce Investment Board (KWIB) launched the High Impact Board initiative in 2010. The initiative was designed to recognize workforce boards that were innovative, efficient, effective, and acting strategically to meet community needs. Criteria were established to evaluate strategic planning, board involvement, communication methods, resource mapping, and the impact the services provided by the board has on the community. Boards who achieve this distinction are identified in Kentucky as leaders who use initiative and creativity to plan and prepare for the future of the communities they represent.

The TENCO Workforce Development Board received the honor of High Impact Workforce Investment Board on February 2014.

Local Workforce Boards play leadership roles within their communities in order to align workforce needs with educational opportunities, and business demand.
